11 killed 20 injured in Paonta Sahib MUV accident

Atleast 11 people were killed and 20 others injured when an over crowded multi utility vehicle in which they were travellig in fell into a deep gorge in Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh.

“The accident took place at  Timbi village near Paonta Sahib ( 300 kms from Shimla) in Sirmour district at 11.15 am. Eight of the accident victims died on the spot and another 3 succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital,” Sanjeev Lakhanpal, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sirmour said

The crowded MUV  was on its way from Pakras village to Timbi in Shillai Tehsil of Poanta Sabib . Six out of 20 injured injured people are serious and have been shifted to PGI, Chandigarh. 14 injured passengers have been admitted at Nahan, Shilai and Paonta Sahib hospitals.

The accident victims belonged to Shillai block of Paonta Sahib subdivision in Sirmour district. The preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of the vehicle lost control over the vehicle as it was over speeding.
