14 killed in Uttarakhand accident!

The Tempo Traveller was hit by the landslide debris

Thirteen people were killed on the spot and two others were injured when the Tempo Traveller vehicle in which they were travelling in was hit by a landslide on Gangotri highway on Monday afternoon.

The accident took place near Bhatwadi on Gangotri highway.

According an  eye witnesses, nearly 200 pilgrims had left for Gangotri Dham on Sunday in 16 taxies and a Tempo Traveller.

The accident took place on Monday around 2 p.m. when the pilgrims were returning home and their vehicles were crossing between Sanglai and Bhukki when a hill suuddenly started sliding down.

While all the vehicles crossed safely , the Tempo Traveller was hit by the falling boulders. IT veered off the road and fell into a nearly 50M deep gorge.

The force of the landslide debris can be estimated from the fact that the vehicle was torn into pieces.

While 13 people died on the spot ,two girls including Meenakshi (13) and Radha (14 ) were injured seriously.

Radha succumbed to injuries while she was being taken to the hospital.
