150 tourists rescued,dozens still stranded in Keylong

One stranded tourist dies,several ill

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on Sunday evening rescued 150 tourists who were standard at Batal on Manali-Kaza route.

BRO sources said  the tourists could not cross over to Manali as the road was blocked by landslides on Saturday.

One person have died and sevetal others were taken ill. The rescued people have been brought to Manali and are safe.

“They could not contact the authorities and relatives as the phone lines were not functional” a BRO official said.

Officials said that Manali-Leh route  has also been closed  following a huge landslide at Pagalnala near Kelong ,Lahaul and Spiti.

Dozens of tourists besides locals are still stranded near Keylong .They have been compelled to spend nights inside vehicles.
