Dharampur/Solan: Victoria Institute of Hotel Management (VIHM) has announced that they will introduce international hotel management diploma course in India . In a special interraction with The Education Sun, Managing Director , VIHM , Rattan Jeet Singh Tiwana said that the institute will soon ink a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sheridan College Toronto , Canada to introduce two year diploma course in travel and tourism management.
“Talks are at an advanced stage with Sheridan College authorities.The certifications will either be done by the City Guilds, UK or by the American Hotel
and Lodging Association.,” Rattan Jeet Singh Tiwana said.
The students opting for this diploma course will learn basics of hotel and travel management at the Victoria Institute of Hotel Management and then will
move to the Sheridan College , Toronto , Canada. VIHM will help students to get education visa and accommodation in Canada.
Studying in Canada for two years will earn a three year work permit to the students who after spending next three years will be eligible for permanent residency as per Canadian Experience Class (CEC) rules.
” We plan to introduce this course from the next session.Efforts will be made to make Indian students familiar with the Canadian standards of living and
education,” Rattan Jeet Singh Tiwana said.
Mr Tiwana said that the basic qualification to get admission in the proposed course will be plus two pass and the students will be required to complete other requirements like IELTS (band 6), good knowledge of English language and mathematics.
Victoria Institute of Hotel Management (VIHM) was formally launched on Monday. The institute is affiliated to Punjab Technical University (PTU) and is
currently admitting students to two professional hotel management courses ( Three year degree course and one year PG Diploma in Hotel
Management , Catering Technology and Tourism).
