37 flights diverted to other airports from Delhi

37 flights were diverted between 9 AM and 1 PM to places like Jaipur, Amritsar Lucknow and Mumbai.

Air pollution caused by smog has also badly hit the air traffic in the Indian National Capital ,New Delhi.

37 flights were diverted to other airports from Delhi as pollution caused major disruption.

Due to heavy smog and low visibility at Delhi Airport, 37 flights were diverted between 9 AM and 1 PM to places like Jaipur, Amritsar Lucknow and Mumbai.

Officials said Air India has diverted 12 and Vistara has diverted five flights due to smog at the airport.

Air quality level reverts to severe category in Delhi-NCR

The air quality in the Delhi-NCR region has deteriorated and entered the severe category. The situation is likely to continue for the next two to three days.

Dr Kuldeep Srivatsava of Meteorological Department said due to rainfall, moderate fog shrouded the Delhi-NCR region today.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government is scheduled to start the odd-even scheme in the capital from tomorrow. The aim is to reduce pollution due to vehicular traffic.
