Bomb, gunpowder seized in West Bengal

West Bengal Police have unearthed a bomb manufacturing unit today at Khidderpore in Kolkata and have arrested one suspect .

Samir Hussain alias Sonu- who was present in the house at the time of the recovery-has been arrested by the police and is being interrogated at the Watgunge police station.

Preliminary questioning has revealed that a group of youths took the house on rent about two months ago for a mobile handset manufacturing unit.

Kolkata Police sources said that based on Intelligence inputs, a team of cops led by DC Port raided a three storied house at 10 Mansatala Row at Khidderpore around 4 am today.On search, police found some live explosives, 300 grams of gun powder, a few TV remotes, mobile phones and electronic circuits.

Local residents said that the youths had spread a rumour that the house was haunted, and they used to keep the doors shut all the time.Police believe that the group that had rented the house was part of a dacoit gang and they were using the hideout to manufacture crude bombs. Investigators are now on the lookout for the other youths who have gone hiding.
