Border dispute: India, China for peaceful solution

Ajit Doval in Beijing

India and China have agreed to adhere to peaceful negotiations to settle the border issue and reach a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution.

The decision was taken during the annual 19th round of boundary talks between National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi at Beijing yesterday.

Agency reports said that both the sides discussed the vexed border dispute amid negativity over Beijing blocking India’s bid to get Jaish-e-Muhammad chief Masood Azhar banned by the UN. Both the leaders had an extensive, deep and candid discussion on the 3,488 km-long Line of Actual Control which remains un-demarcated resulting in tensions between the two sides.
