Haryana to centralise women helpline No 1091

After a spurt in crimes against women in Haryana, the state government has now decided to centralise women helpline number 1091.

Sources told North India Times that women calling 1091 number had reported that the people attending the calls were non-serious and at times did not even respond to the calls. The decision to centralise the helpline comes after the complaints piled up.

“Helpline number-1091 would be made centralized so as to ensure the safety and security of the women in the State,” Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said while directing the senior police officers to deploy Special Women Police Officers in two districts.

Khattar said that the SWPOs will be initially deployed in Rohtak and Karnal where crimes against women were highest.

“On the basis of the feedback from the people of the State, the scheme would be rolled out in remaining districts also,” Khattar said.

Chief Minister said that the women police volunteers system would be further strengthened so that they could provide help to the people more efficiently. Haryana will also implement dial 100 scheme by November 2018.

Khattar has also directed the officials to eradicate corruption at tehsil level where the clerks are involved in corruption. Khattar has also hinted a single cadre for clerks so that their services can be rationalised. It is worth mentioning that some cadres of clerks are not transferred outside which results in corruption.
