Mufti’s pro terrorist remark:Congress stages walk out
The government today disassociated itself with the statement of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohamamed Sayeed. Sayeed attributed the peaceful conduct of polling in the state to Pakistan, Hurriyat and other separatist organisations.
Intervening during the Zero Hour mention in the Lok Sabha, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the credit for the smooth conduct of polls goes to the Election Commission, Army, paramilitary forces and people of the state.
He clarified that Prime Minister never talked to Mufti in this regard as has been claimed by the Chief Minister. Mr Singh said he has spoken to the Prime Minister before making the statement in the House. Dissatisfied with the Home Minister’s remarks, Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge registered his protest and demanded a resolution by the House on the issue.
He also demanded a statement by the Prime Minister. Shouting slogans, opposition members led by Congress staged a walkout. Earlier, raising the issue, K C Venugopal of the Congress slammed Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister for making objectionable statement. He said how Sayeed could forget the killing of innocent people by terrorists and attacks on Army camps. Mr Venugopal termed the Prime Minister’s silence on the issue is shocking and demanded Prime Minister’s statement.
