Himachal Pradesh government will spend Rupees 198 crore on horticulture under the second phase of Pt. Deen Dayal Kisan Baagwan Samridhi Yojna, a horticulture development scheme.
The scheme would bring 20,000 hectare area of horticulture under irrigation. 17312 sprinklers and drip irrigation schemes would be set up to achieve the target under the scheme. The first phase of this plan was launched in January last on which Rs. 155 crores are being spent. 29,000 poly houses were being constructed under first phase and farmers were being given subsidy of 80 percent of the total cost for construction of poly houses and irrigation purposes.
The second phase of Pt. Deen Dayal Kisan Baagwan Samridhi Yojna was launched on the occasion of Independence Day by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister at State level function held at Fatehpur in Kangra district.
"Besides giving support prices under Market Intervention Scheme for apple and citrus fruits, the Government has decided to bring apple, mango, tomato, potato and ginger under crop insurance scheme so as to sustain the economy of the farmers from losses," Reiterating his government's resolve for improving the economic conditions of the farmers and fruit growers in the State, Chief Minister said.
