Haryana to introduce public audit system

February 6th, 2010

Chandigarh: Haryana will introduce the public audit system for effective implementation of public distribution system in the state, said Food and Supplies Minister Mahender Partap Singh here Saturday.

"Under the public distribution system, a record of commodities distributed to consumers is kept at each place, but under the public audit system, beneficiaries can also see the records to ascertain whether they have received commodities at prescribed rates or not," Singh said.

"This system had become necessary because full allocation of sugar was not being received. In such a scenario, consumers can ascertain whether the commodity not received by them has been entered into the records."
