Tibetans to carry forward talks with China

Samdhong Rinpoche, the prime minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile, presided over the meeting.

China and the Dalai Lama’s envoys have held nine rounds of talks since 2002 to try and find a solution to the Tibetan issue. But no major breakthrough has been achieved.

Thubten Samphel, spokesperson for the Tibetan government-in-exile, told IANS that issues raised by the Chinese during the last round of talks held in Beijing Jan 26-31 were discussed.

More than 100,000 Tibetans live in exile in India. The Dalai Lama fled Tibet in 1959 and came to India. His government-in-exile is headquartered in Dharamsala.
