Pimpri Budruk becomes first cashless village in Pune
The Centre for Good Governance under the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs has declared that Pimpri Budruk in Pune district as a cashless village. This is first cashless village in the district.
From students to senior citizens, each of the eligible members of the village Pimpari Budruk from Khed tahasil of Pune District has an account with the bank, where every transaction is being done through mobile banking. All the villagers have been trained by the bank officials and volunteers of Centre for Good Governance. Since there is no requirement of internet for mobile banking, currently everyone has opted for the same.
At present, mobile banking covers everything for the villagers. right from purchasing grocery items to paying the bills of agriculture products and seed shops. Four grocery shop owners, two eateries, a flour mill, one agriculture products and fertilizer shop, a health clinic, a salon and the gram panchayat office have already issued an order for card swipe machines to go at the next level.
Such a swipe machine will also be installed at High School and Junior College where fees of the student or voluntary donations will be accepted via debit cards.
