The Chief Secretary Punjab Sarvesh Kaushal on Tuesday said that the Punjab government employees and daily paid labourers who belong to Haryana will be allowed a paid holiday on October 15 so that they can cast their vote.
“A separate notification the Punjab Government has allowed paid leave to all those residents of Punjab who have vote in Haryana and want to cast their votes on October 15,” Kaushal said.
He said that the Punjab Government has already declared dry day in the vends of 3 km border belt with Haryana on the day of polling as well as counting.
Meanwhile the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday reviewed the law & order situation with neighboring states of Haryana keeping in view ensuing elections in Haryana on October 15, 2014.
A CEO spokesperson said that the situation was reviewed via video conferencing with the representatives of Punjab, UT of Delhi, Rajsthan, Himachal Pardesh, Uttrakhand and Haryana Chief Secretaries, Home Secretaries, DGPs,ADGPs (Election) and representative of Election Commission shared notes on Law & Order situation in the border districts of Haryana.
