Rescue continues to search bodies in Parbati

Kullu District Administration has launched a massive rescue operation to find out bodies of about 25 missing pilgrims in the swollen waters of Parbati and Beas rivers. These pilgrims belonging to Punjab, were on their way to Manikaran, when their private bus drowned in the river near Sarsari on Kullu-Manikaran road yesterday evening.

Five critically injured people have been admitted in PGI Chandigarh. One body was recovered about 20 kilometre away from the spot today morning but the chances of survival of nearly 25 other missing pilgrims in the swollen water of Parbati and Beas rivers are now quite bleak.

A team of NDRF has been called by the district authorities to help in the operation on about 40 kilometre stretch of Parbati and Beas rivers up to Larji Dam. Both the rivers are in full spate presently and it was not possible to dive inside.
