Sania Mirza reacts to ‘daughter-in-law’ remark
Indian tennis player Sania Mirza, who married Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik on April 12,2010 is in news these after Telangana government decided to appoint her as state’s brand ambassador.
Telangala BJP leder K Laxman on Wednesday kicked off a major controversy by objecting to TRS governmen’s decision and had called Sania as the daughter-in-law of Pakistan.
Laxman had also said that Sania Mirza was born in Maharashtra and her family had settled in Hyderabad later.BJP had also said that the tennis player had never participated in agitation for a separate state of Telangana, said Laxman, who is leader of BJP in Telangana Legislative Assembly.
Reacting to Laxman’s remark on Thursday Sania Mirza said that is is an Indian and will will always remain an Indian.
“I am an Indian and will always remain an Indian,” the statement issued by her said.
The tennis star strongly condemned the statement of BJP Telangana leader branding her an outsider.
“I strongly condemn any attempts by any person to brand me an outsider. Hurts me that so much time is being wasted on a petty issue of my being appointed as brand ambassador of Telangana,” Sania Mirza said.
