Sushma’s help to Modi was just compassionate:Prasad
Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s help to tainted former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi in securing British travel documents was just a compassionate intervention for a humanitarian cause. He was replying to a media query in New Delhi today on the issue.
On surfacing of a document in which Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is said to have backed Modi’s immigration plea, Mr. Prasad said she will surely revert after taking into account all the facts.
He also took potshots at former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who today demanded release of all letters written to British authorities on the Modi case during the UPA rule which he said will answer accusations against Congress and him.
Earlier in the day, Congress had demanded resignation of Rajasthan Chief Minister after former IPL chief Lalit Modi revealed that she had accompanied his ailing wife to Portugal in 2012 and 2013. Party spokesperson Shobha Oza said, it is crystal clear that Ms Raje helped the person who is an accused in the cases of economic offences.
