Vyapam scamThe Madhya Pradesh government today filed an application in the state High Court for a CBI probe into the Professional Examination Board scam or Vyapam scam and suspected deaths related with it. Giving this information, Additional Advocate General P Kaurav said in Jabalpur that the High Court may hear the plea tomorrow.

He said that the request states that following the recent unfortunate incidents related to the scam, the state government wants a CBI probe into it. The request also states that the Madhya Pradesh police’s Special Task Force was efficiently probing into the scam. But with the recent unfortunate developments and demand from certain quarters the state government pleads for the CBI probe into the cases.

Earlier talking to media in Bhopal, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that he has full faith in the probe being done by the STF but honouring the public opinion he has decided to recommend a CBI inquiry into the matter. Terming recent deaths related to the scam as unfortunate, Mr. Chouhan said that several questions have been raised recently that need to be answered. On the other hand, Congress has raised doubts over Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s intention of the CBI probe into the scam.

Congress leader Mohan Prakash said in Bhopal that if the state government wants a CBI inquiry in the Vyapam scam it should write to the DoPT and not the High Court. He also demanded that the CBI probe should be monitored by the Supreme Court. He said that the Congress will call a Madhya Pradesh bandh on 16th of this month on this matter. The High Court had rejected the demand of CBI probe earlier. The ruling BJP has welcomed the move taken by Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

About two thousand people have been arrested in India’s one of the biggest recruitment and admission scam. Names of several high profile persons and senior official have been figured in the scam who rigged the admission and recruitment tests of The Professional Examination Board to benefit the ineligible candidates after taking money. Over 30 mysterious deaths of accused and witnesses have also been reported in the scam. The scam hogged the national limelight after the mysterious death of journalist Akshay Singh.
