Fourteen people were killed and ten others injured when the private transport bus in which they were travelling in rolled down a 700 metre gorge in Salooni area of Chamba town on Saturday,official sources said.
“The bus which was on its way to Himgiri village, fell into a 700-metre gorge near Shool nullah in Salooni tehsil, some 90 km from Chamba town.The driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a curve,” Himachal Transport minister , G S Bali said.
Expressing grief over the deaths, the Chief Minister said that he was pained over the tragic mishap. He expressed the condolences with the families who lost their near and dear ones in the tragic mishap and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
Chief Minister said that a sum of Rs. 10,000 each has been given as an immediate relief to the next of the kin of the deceased and Rs. 5,000 each to the injured. He also directed medical authorities to provide best treatment to the injured.
