Aadhar Card not a pre-requisite for pensions
Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Kavita Jain has clarified that beneficiaries of various social security pension are not required to produce Aadhaar Card while availing the benefit of these schemes. At present, the pension for the month of October 2014 is being disbursed in the month of November.
She said that it has come to the notice that the beneficiaries were being asked to produce Aadhaar Cards at the time of disbursement of pension. As a result of this there is sense of resentment among the beneficiaries.
Kavita Jain said that those beneficiaries who did not have the Aadhaar Card would also be given the benefit of these pensions. Those beneficiaries who have not yet prepared their Aadhaar Cards, their cards would be got prepared by the government in future at its own level. No beneficiary would be deprived off from pension benefit for the want of Aadhaar Card, he added.
She said that a number of welfare schemes were being run by the department. These included old age allowance, widow pension, handicapped pension, financial assistance to destitute children, ladli social security allowance, allowance to dwarf and eunuch etc. At present over 22.26 lakh beneficiaries were getting pension and allowances under these schemes. He said that an amount of Rs 220.94 crore has been released by the State Government for disbursement of pension or allowances for the month of October 2014.
