sukhpal_singh_khairaCongress spokesperson Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Wednesday said that imposition of Rs. 5.66 crore excise levy and a fine of Rs. 10 lacs on Deep Malhotra MLA Faridkot and liquor baron, confirms and vindicates my allegations of SAD now a den of criminals, mafia and defaulters.

“Had it not been for my complaint to the State Election Commission (SEC), regarding massive illegal hoarding of 2 lac liquor boxes by the firms of Deep Malhotra MLA Faridkot, the Excise and Taxation Department would have succumbed to political pressure and allowed the said liquor mafia to scott free,” Khaira said.

The Congress spokesperson said that as per copy of letter sent to  him by the Excise and Taxation Department dated July 7,2014, it has been disclosed that Gaurav Wines Pvt. Ltd. and its sister concerns owned by Deep Malhotra MLA Faridkot, have been imposed a heavy excise levy of Rs. 5,66,90,216 and a fine of Rs. 10 lacs by the department. The said levy and fine has been imposed for illegal hoarding of 32060 boxes of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 39047 boxes of beer, by the firms of Deep Malhotra MLA, at Ludhiana last year. As per the department letter sent to the Additional Secretary, Excise and Taxation Punjab, the said liquor stock was of the previous financial year and that the MLA failed to disclose this to the department, in order to avoid paying excise duty to the government.

“After learning about this illegitimate and illegal act of the MLA, I had sent a complaint to SEC on 07.05.2013 (copy attached), upon which the department was left with no option but to seize the hoarded stocks. Although, as per my information the govt. favoured the MLA under pressure from the Dy.CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, by bringing on record only part of the illegally seized approx. 2 lac boxes,” Khaira said.

Khaira said that had he not complained to the SEC, the defaulting MLA would have scott free and sold the hoarded stock during the next financial year, without paying the excise duty to the govt., earning tremendous black money.

The illegal, illegitimate and felonious act of an elected representative who are supposed to lead by example, once again confirms and vindicates my allegations of the SAD, now being a den of mafia, criminals and defaulters. On earlier occasions too, I have exposed other mafia MLA’s like N.K.Sharma, against whom two cases under the Environmental Protection Act, 1986, had to be registered on my complaint for cheating upon investors.

Therefore, keeping in view the nefarious and unlawful activities of the SAD MLA’s, Congress urges Mr. Badal that if he has an iota of morality left in him, he should expel Deep Malhotra and N.K.Sharma  from his party.
