Anurag Thakur elected BCCI president


Hamirpur MP and son of former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal Anurag Thakur was today unanimously elected BCCI President while Ajay Shirke was chosen as Secretary in the Board’s Special General Meeting, SGM in Mumbai.

He replaced Shashank Manohar who stepped down from the position to take up the ICC chief’s job. He will hold office till rest of the original term of Manohar which started from 2014 and end in 2017.

Thakur, who is a BJP MP in Lok Sabha, is the youngest BCCI chief. He had filed his nomination for the post after resigning as BCCI Secretary.
