In a major breakthrough, West Bengal Police has arrested the main accused in Burdwan blast case, Sajid, alias Sheikh Rahmatullah.
The accused is a Bangladeshi national and chief commander of terror group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, JMB. Interrogation revealed that Sajid is also the chief of Burdwan module. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had announced a cash reward of 10 lakh rupees for Sajid’s arrest.
In a related development, a Sessions Court in Kolkata has send Zia-ul-Haque, in connection with the Burdwan blast, to seven-day NIA custody. The NIA arrested Haque on Friday for allegedly imparting terror training to youths.
Appearing before the court of Mumtaj Khan, NIA counsel Shyamal Ghosh prayed for 14 days’ remand for Haque, but the court granted seven days. Haque was a member of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh.
