Chandy reduces bus fare ahead of assembly polls
In a people-friendly measure ahead of the coming Assembly polls, Kerala government has reduced by one rupee the bus fare of ordinary services in Kerala State Road Transport Corporation.
Addressing a press conference after a Cabinet meeting in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said with the decision, minimum charge in ordinary bus services will come down to Rs 6 and there will be reduction by one rupee in all other ticket fares.
He said, the decision was taken with a view to passing on the benefits to people with the fall in petrol and diesel prices.
Chandy said the Cabinet also accorded sanction for the creation of 2,653 posts in 235 higher secondary schools which were given recognition in 2014-15 and 2015-16.
