Day temperatures rise in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh: Day temperatures rose across Punjab and Haryana Monday after many days as most areas in both states had a bright and sunny day.

Amritsar in Punjab recorded a high of 17.4 degrees Celsius though the low was a mere 2.6 degrees in the past 24 hours.

Hisar in Haryana also recorded 17.4 degrees Celsius at 11.30 a.m. Monday compared to Sunday’s high of 17.8 degrees.

Narnaul town, also in Haryana, remained the coldest in the region with the minimum temperature here being 0.5 degrees, four degrees below normal.

Chandigarh recorded a temperature of nearly 20 degrees at 11.30 a.m. Monday compared to the maximum of 13.8 degrees Sunday, which was six degrees below what is normal for this time of the season. The city and most other areas of the region had remained cloudy and cold Sunday.

Met officials here said that the dry weather would prevail in the coming 48 hours and night temperatures could fall.
