1 .Chandigarh International Airport is part of Chandigarh Air Force Station. National and International flights are operated from civil enclave of this airfield. Photography is prohibited at Chandigarh airport as it is part of airbase.International terminal of Chandigarh Airport was inaugurated in 2015 but there were no international flights till September 26, 2016 when first international flight to Dubai took off from this airport first time.

2. The name of Chandigarh International Airport is yet to be decided as Chandigarh and Punjab states have no consensus on the name. Both the states own nearly half of this airport share.

3. Chandigarh Airport is now being converted to Cat-III Instrument Landing System (ILS) which will help to operate flights in low visibility .The runway of this airport is also being upgraded from 9,000 ft to 10,200 feet which will make it a true international airport as the new runway will make it possible to allow wide aircrafts like Boeing 777,787 and 747.Flights from Chandigarh will be available to countries located beyond 5,000 kms i.e. long distance flights to US, Australia and Europe.

4. Presently Chandigarh Airport has a total 27 flights to domestic circuit including Delhi , Mumbai, Hyderaad, Bangaluru, Srinagar, Leh and Jaipur.Due to the runway widening work, the airport will remain closed for two weeks between February 12 to 26,2018.Currently there are no flights after 4 PM between Monday to Saturday and the airport remains closed on Sundays.

5. Chandigarh is the first non-metro category airport which has its own radio station being run by Indigo 91.9FM
