Former Delhi University lecturer SAR Gilani- who is facing sedition charges- was today remanded to judicial custody till March 3rd by a Metropolitan Magistrate. He was arrested on Tuesday in connection with an event at the Press Club of India in Delhi where anti-national slogans were allegedly raised last week.
Delhi Police today presented him before a magistrate in a police station for remand proceedings. Gilani also moved a bail application which will come up for hearing before Metropolitan Magistrate Harvinder Singh tomorrow.
In the wake of unruly scenes in Patiala House Courts complex on Monday and Wednesday, police had approached the magistrate and requested that the remand proceedings be held in a police station away from Patiala House complex. On Tuesday, the court had sent Gilani to two-day police custody
