Haryana government on Monday suspended two head constables and terminated the services of three SPOs who are accused of beating up a woman with a belt during interrogation.
A video showing the torture had gone viral on social media which compelled the police department to take action against the guilty officials.
The accused were identified as Head constables Rohit,Baldev and SPOs Dinesh, Harpal and Krishan.
An FIR has also been lodged against the accused constables and SPOs in Adarsh Nagar Police Station, Faridabad.
“This incident took place in October 2018.The victim did not report the matter to the police.Out of five, two accused have been arrested and efforts are being made to nab others,” Commissioner of Police Faridabad Sanjay Kumar said.
Sanjay Kumar said that efforts were being made to trace the victim woman so that her statement can be recorded.
The Torture Video shows it all ,exposes Haryana police
The viral video which is of four minute duration shows a woman in police station which is being beaten up and thrashed by the accused cops, two in plain clothes and three in Khakhi.
Interestingly enough , the government which has launched ‘beti bachaao’ campaign remained silent for nearly a year and only acted when the torture video went viral.
The question which one should ask the Haryana government is why the services of accused Head Constables were not terminated. Why the three SPOs were dismissed alone.
