Irani raps AMU VC on Lib controversy

Government on Tuesday sought explanation from the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) over not allowing access to girl students to the main library in the campus.

Human Resource Ministry has asked the AMU Vice Chancellor retired Lieutenant General Zameer Uddin Shah to give explanation on the matter.

Talking to AIR, HRD Minister Smriti Irani said, such comments are disappointing and action will taken after the completion of the investigation on the matter.

Meanwhile, Minister of States for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, such comments are indicative of conservative mindset which are not accepted in a civilized society. Several political leaders, activists and students reacted sharply on  Shahs remarks.
