Jagan arrest: Congress mum, BJP terms it vendetta
New Delhi: The Congress Sunday refused to comment on the arrest of YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) termed it “political vendetta”.
“It is not proper for us to comment…the CBI is an independent body…it does not take any directions from any political party,” Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi told Times Now channel, soon after the arrest.
“The law will take its own course.”
The BJP expressed suspicion at the timing of the arrest and said it was political vendetta by the Congress.
“The timing of the arrest is suspect…It shows the vendentta politics of the Congress,” BJP leader Balbir Punj told the Times Now channel.
The CBI Sunday evening arrested Jaganmohan Reddy in Hyderabad for corruption and illegally amassing wealth.
The MP and son of late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was arrested after the CBI grilled him for the third consecutive day.
