Union Minister for Rural Development Chaudhary Birender Singh has dispelled opposition charges that the new land acquisition Bill will benefit the corporate. Interacting with media in Chandigarh today, he said that the land will be acquired only for infrastructural development like roads, power projects, hospitals, canals and defence installations.
The Minister said that land acquisition bill is with the Joint Parliamentary Committee and if it gives any recommendation in favour of farmers, the government is ready to accept it. He blamed the opposition parties of misleading the farmers on the proposed land bill.
The Minister said that the farmers’ consent clause would remain applicable in cases of acquisitions for private projects.
