Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched an Aadhar-based Digital Life Certificate – Jeevan Pramaan for pensioners.
The digital certification will do away with the requirement of submitting a physical Life Certificate in November each year by pensioners for getting pension.
The move will benefit crore of pensioners in the country.Modi said that after moving towards self-certification, this digital life certificate is another enabling mechanism which will benefit the common man.
According to an official release, the Department of Electronics and IT has developed a software application for the purpose.
The system will be made available to pensioners and other stakeholders on a large scale at no extra cost. It can be operated on a personal computer or a smartphone.
This facility will also be available at Common Service Centres being operated under the National e-Governance Plan for the benefit of pensioners residing in remote and inaccessible areas.
