RBI press creats a world record by printing 10.9 M notes
The RBI Note Mudran printing press in Mysuru has broken all its past record by printing highest number of currency notes in December.
Honorary President of Note Mudran Limited Employees Union, A Ramdass said that 10.9 million notes were printed on a single day, which he said breaks the previous world record of 8.7 million notes printed in an American currency printing press.
There are 650 workers involved in printing work in the Mysuru unit which worked for 12 hours a day in two shifts and printed 1350 million currency notes in December. Ramdass also informed that printing wastage in America is 4 percent whereas in Mysuru press it has been reduced to two percent. The cost per currency printing in America is four rupees, whereas in Mysuru Press it is just 3 rupees and 40 paise, he added.
