Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN beats Airlift

Very much as we had predicted yesterday, despite no songs and romance (SRK’s forte), Shah Rukh Khan’s unconventional FAN has managed the best opening day numbers of 2016.

As per the initial inputs with us, the Maneesh Sharma directed FAN has netted in the 19-21 crore band, beating the next best, Akshay Kumar’s AIRLIFT by a clear 6-7 crore.

Having said that, while most of the critics have been positive about the film, a section of the audience has not taken kindly to the second half of FAN, and so the film has to work hard in the coming days and weeks.

With some non-theatrical rights having already fetched a good price, the 85 crore (raw budget) FAN still has its task cut out, as far as the theatrical earnings are concerned, for Yash Raj Films, who are also the worldwide distributors.

Meanwhile, Hollywood’s THE JUNGLE BOOK, which netted a superb 75 crore (for all versions) during the opening week, is putting up a reasonably good fight against the might of the Khan and his FAN!
