SpiceJet on Tuesday announced the launch of two new daily flights from Amritsar to Bangkok and Goa. The flights will commence on November 6.

A three-member team from SpiceJet, led by Chief Customer Service Officer Kamal Hingorani met Captain Amarinder Singh here at his official residence to announce the launch of the new flights from Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport.

Lauding the initiative, Captain Amarinder Singh said that there was a huge potential of tourism in Punjab, especially the holy city of Amritsar, which is visited by a large number of devotees thronging from around the world to pay obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib and Durgiana Mandir, besides paying tributes to the great martyrs at Jallianwala Bagh.

The Chief Minister also asked the SpiceJet authorities to start more flights between Amritsar and other destinations in the country and abroad. He also emphasised the need to start a direct flight from Mohali International Airport to Singapore in view of the huge demand from the people in the region.

Hingorani apprised the Chief Minister that SpiceJet was the first and only carrier to offer daily direct connectivity on the routes of both Amritsar-Bangkok-Amritsar and Amritsar-Goa-Amritsar.

Bangkok is notably the second international destination after Dubai that SpiceJet will be connecting via a direct flight from Amritsar.

Bangkok is one of the most preferred international destinations for Indian tourists. Goa is also one of India’s favourite travel destinations.
