Three Kerala districts facing bird flue threat

Red alert has been declared in three districts of Kerala in view of the Avian Influenza in the Kuttanadu area of Kerala. This is for the first time, bird flu is confirmed in the State.

Sale of poultry and transport of birds are banned in different parts of Kottayam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts. 24 hour control rooms were also started in the affected areas. Around 17,000 ducks were found dead in the Kuttanad area of Central Kerala in recent days.
