While India TV-C Voter exit poll gave 141 seats to the Samajwadi Party, News 24-Chanakya gave the party a much higher 185 seats. Staggered polling to pick a 403-member state assembly ended Saturday.
The India TV survey said the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) would get 126 seats, drastically down from the 206 it won five years ago to assume power on its own.
The News 24 exit poll gave Chief Minister Mayawati’s BSP only 85 seats.
India TV gave the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 83 seats, but News 24 said the party would only get around 55.
India TV said the Congress was likely to win 31 seats in Uttar Pradesh. News 24 predicted a higher tally — 55.
In 2007, the Samajwadi Party won 97 seats, the BJP 51 and the Congress 22 seats.
